A sign on the door of Earl Hamner's office reads: "Work is for people who don't know how to fish," I recently visited with Jane and Caroline Hamner at Earl's office in Studio City, CA. With a heavy heart, the Hamner family wanted to find a loving home for Earl's fish collection and has bequeath a small portion of his collection to be auctioned off. The silent auction will run from October 20th & 21st. and close during the banquet dinner at The Waltons Mountain Museum on Saturday October 21st. Earl Hamner's happiest fishing grounds were on the Rockfish River in his home town of Schuyler, Virginia where he first learned to fish with his father during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Earl's fish collection includes a Canadian salmon, the Florida bone fish, the Mexican marlin, carved, metal, glass-blown, ceramic, and some who have been taxidermy. "One I'll hate to give up is a 60-pound Chinook salmon that I caught in British Columbia," - Earl Hamner Also being auctioned off will be Randy Martin's beautiful hand carved masterpiece of "The Waltons House".

Silent Auction will start at The Walton's Mountain Museum at 1:00 PM and conclude at the Banquet on Saturday.
